Advertising dollars at anyone’s expense

Since content is king, do we then do anything to be the King? The more links shared, the more clicks, the higher the ranking, increase advertising dollars.

Sounds parabolic? Let me try and break it down the best way possible without boring the day light out of those that understood the punch line.

Our digital world means information at your finger tip. So everyone (website, news agencies, bloggers etc.) wants to notify you of new info from their website. All you have to do is click allow. This is good when it is a reliable source or is it? Are there any more reliable sources?

Let’s define Media; Communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data or promotional messages are disseminated.

New media – Wikipedia New media most commonly refers to content available on-demand through the Internet, accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation. … A defining characteristic of new media is dialogue.

WHAT IS NEW MEDIA? – New Media Institute Most technologies described as “new media” are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulated, networkable, dense, compressible, and interactive. Some examples may be the Internet, websites, computer multimedia, computer games, CD-ROMS, and DVDs…. The term “new media” seems to escape its very definition.

I want to use both definitions for clarity and a little more emphasis on the second. Permit me to focus on this line “often having characteristics of being manipulated”

Does it mean that traditional media couldn’t be manipulated? No! But it is easier and faster with new media.

There is an example of a video i saw today online relating to the one in circulation of First lady Melania Trump not wanting to hold President Donald Trump hand.  http://nypost.com/2017/05/22/melania-really-does-not-want-to-hold-donald-trumps-hand/

So this version of President Trump and Pope Francis manipulated

A young iT student in my office thinks this video is real and he was quick to say CNN is on it. but i want to help those that may not understand post production to see obvious difference.

Here is an actual coverage of President Trump with Pope Francis at the Vatican. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BCdK51SU50

This might be considered a rookie move but on the serious note, there are people out there that are exceptionally good at this.

So let’s connect the dots, if you create good content and post on your page/site you will attract many visitors, if you get news or information first especially with visuals like pictures or video, you will get plenty hits. This entirely means for business is advertising dollars.

This is why the United States media released information that could be considered damaging to an ongoing investigation of Manchester Arena Bomb photos without thinking twice. It’s about I got it first, I get the glory, I get paid and all this is really at anyone else expense.

One of the major reasons brands in Telecoms, Banking, Food, Beverage companies etc. advertise is to reach a wider audience (brand awareness= Advertising dollars).

What will I like you to take home from this, new media is beautiful and it’s here to stay.

We as consumers must guard our hearts and mind above all else for it determines the course of our lives. Do further research; pay attention to details, some of the pros slip up here and there. At the end of the day, it’s not everything you see, read, and hear that you should believe. Dig deeper, there is a lot to discover.
